I'm a big Discworld fan but have decided it's time for my Terry Pratchett collection to stop gathering dust on my bookshelf and be released out into world.

Even though I didn´t find this book entirely hilarious I have to say I enjoyed it a lot! Death´s character is so well achieved, I love when he makes an appearance in Terry P. novels, talking in capital letters.

Hilarious is the word. I enjoyed this book SO MUCH... I use to read on the subway, and my fellows commuters would throw side glances at me, I guess trying to calculate if the silent, sudden laughter entailed any risk of mass murder...A fantastic book, a wonderful idea, but above all, a great writer. I have to investigate on this writer further, for I guess he could make hilarious a vacuum cleaner user's guide. Fantastic, acid humor. I just about died when a drunk elephant was about to see pink people...

oops, I just realized I wrote the previos journal entry in Spanish, sorry!!!
I totally agree with Anna-O (thanks for the "special person" mention by the way, I hope you meant me!!!): this is a wonderful book. I mean, the very idea of a kid becoming Death's apprentice... that's all I needed to hear to secure the book and take it home with me. Not only was the plot absolutely brilliant, but also the characters were beautifully portrayed; specially Death, of course. Just the fact of having Death speak with CAPITAL LETTERS made all the difference; I must say it sent a few shivers down my spine, despite the fact that Death actually turned out to be quite human after all. I loved the sarcasm and acid comments sprinkled all over the story.
This was my first Discworld novel experience. I can't wait to get my hands on another book of the saga!!!!

I JUST LOVE IT!!!
I have enjoyed Jingo with its war and politics but this one is so much better IMO.
DEATH was a great caracther and the BOY (MORT) was lovable and grew up in front of my eyes.

What a great story, I really enjoyed it. I couldn´t stop reading, even walking in the street. And you actually grow to like and understand DEATH.
The humor is great, me, like others comment couldn´t stop laugihg while reading in the bus. But I stopped reading at office breaks beacuse it draw too much atention to my lack of work. Very dangerous book. Thanks for sharing it.
