This classic story is not much like the musical that it was made into, which is where I fell in love with the story, but it still has the brooding, gothic menace that makes the former so good. You cannot pity the Phantom in the novel, he is a cold blodded, heartless killer, who turns on the patrons and workers of the Opera in his quest to possess Christine Daae, the young singer he has been training in his guise of the Angel of Music.
I really enjoyed the read nontheless, the story was fast paced and scary in places. You can't beat a good classic!! Hope you enjoy it too.

I haven't seen the musical based on this book so wasn't sure what to expect. It's pretty dark so I'm curious as to what the musical is like. Not my usual cup of tea but glad I stayed with it to the end.
I've offered this up in the RABCK thread so it will be on its way somewhere at the end of the month!
