Picked it up at the "Supplementary Bookcrossing Meetup" tonight. Will go on my To Be Read shelf...
Interesting book, but not at all what I expected. The most "historical" piece seems to be the first chapter, based loosely on the story of Noah's Ark. Each chapter is a completely independent story, which is nice for reading on the train, but the author tries to hard to tie them all back to the ark story. This book could have done better without that. Also, the stories really don't seem related at all, and are based on obscure happenings, not significant events. Not at all even trying to provide a "survey" of history. So yes, it was interesting, but not particularly compelling. The first chapter is by far the best one, in my opinion.
But please, write and let me know what you think of this book. I'd be interested to hear if anyone disagrees with me.
