I received this book for Christmas and haven't had time to read it until this weekend. And to be honest, I wasn't rushing as it is not the type fo fiction I traditionally read AND I deeply moved by the new biography on Joe Strummer that thrilled me and kept me from picking this one up.

This weekend I started and finished Ms Lawsons book. It so captivated me that I missed much fo the first and all of the second and third quarters of the SuperBowl to keep reading.(though I didnt really miss all that much from what I hear)

The Other Side of the Bridge kept me hooked from beginning to end. Lawson does a mavellous job in exposing the two sides of a story, through the eyes of a number of seemingly unrelated characters and using a non-linear approach that foretells some of the books key images and moments. This novel made me stop reading many times just to ponder, relating some of the story's occurances and characters to the lives I knew in rural Canada where I grew up.

It is why I joined Book Crossing - I wanted to share my passion for this book and not leave it on my shelf to gather dust. It moved me both as a reader and and more importantly as a human being relating to those around me. Must read and must pass on! Oh yeah - and Go Giants!!!
