Ruby Lennox was conceived grudgingly by Bunty and born while her father, George, was in the Dog and Hare in Doncaster telling a woman in an emeral dress and a D-cup that he wasn't married. Bunty had never wanted to marry George, but he was all that was left. She really wanted to be Vivien Leigh or Celia Johnson, swept off to America by a romantic hero.

But here she was, stuck in a flat above the pet shop in an ancient street beneath York Minster, with sensible and sardonic Patricia, age five, greedy cross-patch Gillian who refused to be ignored, and Ruby...

I have read this book but have only scored it a five as I can't really remember much about it, however that doesn't mean it was a bad read, just that I read it such a long time ago (had to blow the dust and cobwebs off it!) and it's just one of many, many books I've read!

On its way to the winner of Plum-crazy's December/January Smile Day RABCK.

I looked through their choice of reading matter and saw they are waiting to read another of this author's books via a ring/ray.

Hope you enjoy it, and congratulations on winning!
