This was an interesting book about a black American town which excludes whites, and reveres its own history above all else. The presence nearby of an independent community of women is blamed by the men of the town as the cancer that is eating away the community, while it is very clear that the blame lies within. Its a serious book, with lots of religious content - probably not one for everyone, and not a casual holiday read.
