From the back cover
Francesca had come back to her childhood home to track down ast last the source of her nightmares that haunted her young life. She came back to the beautiful farm she loved and to the handsome man who said he still loved her. She came back to a place where no one seemed to want to tell her the truth about he rpast, and where death stalked her steps as she backtracked a twisting path of danger to a secret buried deep beneath the surface of her memory -- a secret she was desperately afraid to remember.
**************
Along the lines of Phyllis Whitney but without the writing skill. The suspense part does keep you reading, but the reading style is extremely irritating. The author has chosen to write in a pseudo Pennsylvania-Dutch "accent" occasionally. If the book was a nice, thick juicy and extremely well-written book, the accent would work. For a gothic romance from the early 70s, it does not work. You just can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear! (never use dthat phrase to describe anything before!)
