Pride and Prejudice (Barnes & Noble Classics)
2 journalers for this copy...
I bought this for myself to complete my collection. Here is a journal entry from another copy of the book that I finished a couple of weeks ago:
I am so thrilled to have finished this book! This is the first classic I have ever read cover to cover, finished, and thoroughly enjoyed!! I loved every part of this book and am now inspired to not only read Austen's other works, but to go out and find me a seamstress to sew me some beautiful 18th Century dresses! :)

I just finished this again. I know it's been my third time reading it so I must have missed a journal entry somewhere. This time I cried. Ha! It's so much easier to understand and enjoy now that I've been to some of the places Austen lived, been to Bath a couple times, done the whole Regency reenactment thing a couple times, and done extensive study on Austen and the way people of her era lived. I just love every bit of it!
Setting this one back on my collection shelf. I wonder when I'll pick it up again?

Just finished this favorite last week. My favorite character this time was Mr. Bennet. His interactions with his wife, and his dry humor overall, really cracked me up this time. Guess I was in the mood for some cynical sarcasm!
It's really been a struggle this past year or so to get into a book. I find that nothing really sounds good, so I've been going back to old favorites. Reading through P&P this last month, I was really focused on how Darcy and Lizzie sent one another mixed signals. One exchange really struck me---when they're working things out toward the end of the story. Lizzie asks why he looked like he didn't care about her last time he came to call and he said it was because she didn't seem like she wanted his attentions. She said it was because she was embarrassed at her previous behaviour and he said he was embarrassed of his own as well. She says, "You might have talked to me more when you came to dinner." He says, "A man who had felt less might."
And isn't that just the way it is when we don't communicate well? How many loves have been lost to poor communication. We must humble ourselves and be vulnerable if we ever hope to have a Jane Austen-esque romance last a lifetime!

This was the first Jane Austen book I've read, I enjoyed reading it, even though its not really my usual type of book I like to read. My favorite character is Jane because of how kindly she puts up with Lizzie. 😂
Just finished another fun read through. I can't wait to show SelahBeth all around Bath and Winchester next month!
