So its a bit hippy-drippy new age tosh, but I liked it more than I thought I would, or at least I disliked it less than I thought I would! Every one and their therapist has read it (2 people on my train this morning!), which is good enough for me. This is essentially a one-idea-novella, about fate, alchemy is a red herring. I sort of like the idea of fate, but can't believe it logically, but, I agree with Coelho (although I think he is gently teasing the gullible reader?), that it all comes down to strength of character, following your convictions to their conclusion, whether good or bad, being honest, being humble, and not having regrets. A perfect book for book crossing, I hope someone finds and it, and it inspires them to follow their own dream...
