This is one of the best books I've read in a long time.

This novel of family relationships and secrets is the story of Emily, a young woman who works in an orphanage and is obsessed with Catholic Saints and female serial killers. There's some beautiful writing here and I particularly like how the father is interested in insects that have been lost in the surroundign area as a parallel to all that the orphans have lost in their lives.

Perhaps unimaginatively, this will be returned to the Canongate Books OBCZ when I next pass.
