I always find it difficult to write a review of a book by someone I know. Not that Anna is ever likely to read this journal entry, but it's still difficult to separate the book from the author. But I'll try and be impartial :-)
Politics 101 tells the story of four university students in the 1970s, and their different impressions of their joint political activities at that time. The book is divided into four sections, each telling effectively the same story in a different character's voice. This works well, slowly revealing the false assumptions characters make about each other, but I found I enjoyed reading some of the sections more than others (probably because some of the characters irritated me less than others).
I did keep wondering whether any of the characters were based on real people from Anna's own university days, though :-)

About time I logged this book, almost registered it again. I like the discription of the author on the back cover. Anna Smith lives in Lyttelton, New Zealand's major haven for lost artists and teaches English at the University of Canterbury. I will let you know if the author should stay lost.
