I picked this up from the book box at my local post office. I really enjoyed this book, which reveals to us the secret of where missing things end up! With a touch of magic and mysticism, it was a light but enjoyable read.

The magical new novel from the number 1 bestselling author of "PS, I Love You", "Love, Rosie" (also published as "Rosie Dunne" or "Where Rainbows End"), and "If You Could See Me Now". This book has been released in the U.S. as "There's No Place Like Here".

From the back of the book:

Ever since the day her classmate Jenny-May Butler vanished, Sandy Shortt has been haunted by what happens when something - or someone - disappears. Finding has become her goal.

Jack Ruttle is desperate to find his younger brother Donal who vanished into thin air a year ago. So when he spots an ad for Sandy's missing persons agency, he's certain that she will answer his prayers and find his missing brother.

But then Sandy disappears too, stumbling upon a place that is a world away from the only one she has ever known. Now all she wants, more than anything, is to find her way home.

sorry for the non-existan update on me starting the reading! but while out in the countryside you have access to lots of free time, there is no internet access. so concentrating on the free time, the book is read and ready for it's travels. it was mostly enjoyable though don't had it's unlikeable moments which i can't think what they were, but sometimes you wanted to not pick the book up again. i loved the idea of the place and yet i think maybe because of the way the book was written, all the while i was looking for the rational explanation... well better not go on and spill anything.... though i don't think any of my sentences (except for the one that the book is read) makes are comprehensible and so i don't think i've done any spilling :)

thanks BethanieKay for the ring, will be pming fbeatriz right now for her address.

It was a strange book, very diferent from the others I've read from Cecilia Ahern. I didn't like it.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Moonwoolf can't read it now. I will send PM to surmisez.

Thanks!

Journal Entry 13 by surmisez from Worcester, Massachusetts USA on Sunday, June 8, 2008
Received in the mail yesterday.

I have a couple of books ahead of this one, but will get to it soon.

Thanks for including me in your BookRing, BethanieKay!

Journal Entry 14 by surmisez from Worcester, Massachusetts USA on Wednesday, June 18, 2008
First off, thanks to BethanieKay for always expanding my reading horizons. Had I saw this book on a shelf, I would've walked on by.

This was a very interesting book. The whole concept reminds me of that TV show, "Sliders".

I liked the story, but it was kind of choppy at times. Sandy was not a very likable character. She was very annoying and not very personable.

The ending was definitely bittersweet. Thanks again, BethanieKay!

I will PM kayjay33 for her address.

I really enjoyed this book and was VERY disappointed when it ended. I wanted it to go on and on. I wanted to know what happened to those other people "Here". I wanted to know if the heroine told other families about their loved ones. I WANT TO KNOW! LOL

Wrapping book up now to send back to BethanieKay.
