A very dark novel about compulsions and depravity, which I didn't really enjoy, although it apparently won various awards from different writing and publishing groups.

really good rad on a holiday weekend with nothing much to do. I think her writting is excellant and I look forward to reading more. Her treatment of a gay hero was realistic and agian excellant
Thought it was o.k.
Interesting by having a sympathetic perspective on a gay man as the lead protagonist. I quite liked Rilke, and set against the backdrop of Glasgow, made it quite a good read. Even though a mystery thriller, the lead was not a detective but an auctioneer, so the details about auction houses and they way they work added interesting details to the novel.

Interesting read and highly entertaining. I did find that the few 'fractured' parts distracted from the story, rather than adding to it.
I loved that the characters all had flaws - made them far more believable and added to the plot immensely.
