We see the patients, staff and treatments of a locked psychiatric hospital through the eyes of a teenage inmate, gaoled for life for some never-revealed heinous crime. It is worth reading twice in rapid succession: once immersed in the character and accepting of everything he says, then the second time bearing in mind that he is a liar and a killer. It could be two entirely different books.
