A long read with a very slow first quarter, but it's worth persevering as the pace picks up and turns into a very enjoyable and satisfying read.

The book was in today's mail, together with a beautiful postcard from Maidstone. Thanks a lot yorkshire-lass.
I'm reading another book for the time being, but will be through with that in a couple of days, and then I will start right away on "The Historian".

That was a slow read and after all I can’t understand the hype surrounding it.
The story was tediously boring and ridiculous. I was dragging myself from page to page until I finally decided that I wouldn’t force myself to finishing it, so here it goes with just one star.
Maybe the next reader will enjoy it more than I did. Thanks for putting me into the ray anyway.

I'm looking forward to this book a lot and hope I will like it more than the previous reader :O)

Journal Entry 8 by soleille from Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Friday, December 19, 2008
a longer journal entry will follow, just to say I really liked this book and sent it on its way to bookworm76 today

And here's the long awaited promised journal entry :O)
I am a bit sceptical about "Dracula sequels", most of them turn out to be too trashy for my taste- this was one very nice exception. The story itself seems believable and not too far-fetched, and there is plenty of suspense and great developments.
What I especially liked was the aspect of depicting east Europe in the Cold war era, sometimes this has fascinated me more than the actual hunt.
All in all, a very well-rounded story, and I'm glad I got a chance to read it thanks to this ring.

got it today!

I have another ring that I'm reading at the moment; after that, I'll move on to this one so I can send it to the next person within a month.

The type of story in this book does remind me of the authors like Dan Brown or Raymond Khoury but I would say it’s much better. The beginning may be slow but the more you’re read it, the more it gets gripping and you want to know how it will end. It was definitely a gripping read and it made me want to read again Dracula by Bram Stoker!

I have pm'ed Arwen-Galadriel and turnpages; both have already read it or found a copy of the book. So, I'm making this book available either for another ray, a trade or a RABCK - don't know yet which one it will be!

Difficult time getting into the first few chapters, but became more compelling as I got into the book. Towards the end could not put it down.
