Beth is a spirited woman with mental retardation who spends nearly every day riding the buses in her Pennsylvannia city. When Beth asks Rachel, her hyperbusy sister, to accompany her on the bus for a year, they take a transcendant journey that changes Rachel's life in incredible ways, leads her to accept her sister at long last---and teaches her to slow down and enjoy the ride.
