3 journalers for this copy...
Haven't read this one but would be happy to send to fellow bookcrossers who would like to give it a go!
Have had this passed to me by AlicatZ - thanks - haven't read it yet as only got it yesterday but will certainly be reading asap - it looks good.
Am sending this one to fellow bookcrosser ffyrestarr to read and pass on somewhere. Will be posting it today whilst out with lucycat and tinies
got this safe and sound in the post this morning, thanks olliebear!! i'll eventually get around to reading it, but at the mo it will languish on my TBR pile as i read a book for a bookray!!
okay, i have some criticism (is that spelt right?) for this book:
1.i presume that all the irish slang is only assessable to irish people as it confused me!
2.i know this is just a character but i find it hard to sympathise with a homophobic racist and possible murderer (we never are told).
3.where's the ending??!! i hate so called 'open endings', but this isn't even that!
4.and i got seriously confused with the swapping between Patricks present life, his flash backs and Francesca's diary (which doesn't often happen to me - i can cope with Philip K Dick's writing style and even Irving Walsh's!)
on the plus side it was quite rivetting, maybe just because you are wondering what it's on about. the Mail On Sunday called this 'a funny, moving and finally horrifying tale'...well, for me this was more tragic than funny, i wouldn't call it moving, i was more ready to strangle the main character who was meant to be the same age as i am and 'horrifying'? not really, he hit her before, we don't ever really find out if he did kill her and as far as i can see the novel needs an extra few pages...
