(text from the back)
At the heart of Dicken´s bleak vision of mid-Victorian England is Coketown, where blackened mills dominate th skyline, the rivers run purple with pollution and children are numbered instead of being named. Here Gradgrind and Bounderby create their logical, heartless world, full of facts and devoid of sentiment.
Into this world comes the circus - Mr Sleary´s Horseriding - a temptation even the children of practical, rational men cannot resist. When Gradgrind catches his own children at the circus, he becomes involved with the clown´s daughter, Sissy Jupe. The scene is then set for the clash of Fact and Fancy which lies at the heart of the novel.
Paperbook with original illustrations. 1854

Oldest TBR Read and Release Challenge 2019 -- Please Join Us.
This is a challenge to read and release the oldest TBR book that is in your possession, that resides on your Mount TBR. I have held onto books for years because I still want to read them, but somehow, there are other books that get chosen first and these poor books remain at the bottom of the pile, at the bottom of Mount TBR. My challenge is to give these books a chance. You will probably enjoy them, and if not, don't continue to read them. Use this thread to list your oldest TBRs that you have read in 2019.
To find your oldest TBR, sort your TBR books 'in your hands' by 'date registered' ascending. The first book listed will be your oldest TBR. If it has been registered by someone else, you can decide whether it is your oldest TBR or not because you may have had it in your possession for only a short while.
My oldest TBR that I have reading slowly for a few months now is "The Testament" by Elie Wiesel. I bought it at the library sale. It is a library discard and a unique book. I am finding it quite different and a revelation. I hope to finish it soon.
Please join us. This is a worthwhile challenge. It helps you to finally get to those books that you have been wanting to read.

After 4 chapter I decided to read it in Swedish. I try to get it in Swedish. I see I cannot understand all historical facts. Now I'm ready with my oldest TBR! Yippie!
