The author writes of growing up in the early 1970's, a happy childhood until tragedy strikes. It is a story of pain and survival.
At first this book moved too slowly and had too much detail for me. I couldn't imagine how a child could remember so much detail, for example what her parents were wearing, etc. It was a painful book to read because the young girl experienced so much pain in one sad and bad event happening after another. Then two-thirds of the way through the book, I did not want to stop reading. Horrific events were happening in the young girl's life, and I wanted to see how things would unfold. It was still painful to read the book, but there is a happy ending at the very end of the book.
