I've been eyeing this fair-condition trade paperback (different cover than shown) on every visit to Annie's Book Stop for quite a while now, and it finally tripped my "still looks interesting, might as well get it" button. It's by Patricia McKillip, whose dreamy fantasy Forgotten Beasts of Eld I enjoyed long ago.

This book seems to be a re-telling (or re-interpreting) of the "Tam Lin" myth, but where one lover is taken under the sea by mer-folk instead of into the hills by the Faerie. [I also learned, after some web-searching to find a cover-pic matching the one on my book, that the novel was originally published in collaboration with a set of paintings by Brian Froud, and while my edition's cover is one of his works, my book doesn't include any other artwork. Oh, well!]

Later: I tried to get into this one, I really did, but somehow it never grabbed me. It seemed almost surreal to me, beyond my comfort level, and it just felt vague and confusing. Maybe someone else will enjoy it...
