An Inspector Morse Mystery, set in Oxford as usual, where a tour group of Americans are visiting Oxford when one of them suddenly and unexpectedly dies in her hotel room. When it is found that she was carrying a valuable piece of jewellery which has been stolen, Morse decides that this may not be a natural death.

An entertaining read, with more twists than a corkscrew and a satisfying expose at the finish.
