I really enjoyed this book. I can't recall having read anything by Tony Parsons before, so this was a great introduction to his work.

I grew to like Harry Silver, notwithstanding my abhorrence of disloyalty, a trait Harry has, evidenced by his having a "one-night stand" with a girl from the television studio where he works as a producer.

And it is this event that triggers the downhill slide in Harry's life.
