"G" Is for Gumshoe
5 journalers for this copy...
One of the earliest Kinsey Millhone mysteries and (from all accounts) one of the wittiest and best.
Grafton's alphabetically ordered titles, btw, are duck soup for obsessives :)

I have read it in record time, as I really wanted to send it on its way.
This must be one of the best Kinsey's novels I have read so far; it was a lovely surprise (given its not very attractive title). Mind you, I figured the Brontë connection early on... :)
As usual, I love Ms Millhone's sense of humour, and share her remarks about being single and living alone. Quote:
"The virtue of being single is that you get to make all the rules. Dinner at midnght? Why not, it's just you. Lunch at 10:00 A.M.? Sure, you are the boss. You can eat what you want and call it anything you like,"
And another one:
"The joy of being single is you always get to have your own way."
I love the "romance" between Kinsey and Dietz.
Thanks for sending this on to me, Dunzy! It will soon be on its way to a happy winner who has it on her WishList.

Thanks bookworm-lady. I'm reading the Kinsey Millhone-books and now I can read ahead! Don't worry about the delay, all books I want to send I want to read first too. So, no worries there!
Thanks!

I have finally read this book and it was a pleasant surprise, because I didn't like the first books in the serie so much. This was better, although there still were some annoyances, for example, Kinsey running off into stupid, dangerous happenings. The so-not-in-place sexuality, especially the one in the library (it was only a kiss, but it feels so inappropriate!)
But all in all, a better book than expected.

I took this from the table at the truly amazing annual Dutch BookCrossing meeting on the beach at Castricum. What a lovely surprise that the book has passed through Dunzy and Bookworm-Lady's hands as well as dutch-book's. I haven't read any of Sue Grafton's alphabet novels and I prefer to start at the beginning, but I'm going to give this one a try to see if I can start 7/26ths of the way through.

I could say more, but here’s a quick review: to be getting on with. I’ve just read my first Sue Grafton, G is for Gumshoe. I’d already given up once, but wanted to try again because I know the series is really popular. This time I got over my initial irritation at the over-description of decor and really got drawn in.

Was still on the table at the end of the meeting, and as I offered to take care of all the English books, it came home with me.
I will soon let it travel to Utrecht's central station boekwissel, where it hopefully will find a new reader in no time!
