From the back of the book:
--------------------------

It start's almost by accident: the women who buy their knitting needles and wool from Georgia's store linger for advice, for a coffee, for a chat snd before they know it, every Friday night is knitting night.
And as the needlesclack, and the garments grow, the conversaation moves on from patterns and yarn to life, love and everything. These women are of different ages, from different backgrounds and facing different problems, but they are drawn together by threads of affection that prove as durable as the sweaters they knit.

The Friday Night Knitting Club - don't you want to join?

I enjoyed reading it, the book is like its main character, steady, honest and human. This book is not as much about knitting as it is about the lives that women have. You may be represented by one of the characters. The book is about relationships that women have; the girlfriend kind, the boyfriend kind, the mother-daughter kind, the fairy godmother kind and some others.
The story touches on lives issues most significantly single motherhood; less significantly growing older, race relations and finding one's passion/purpose. The book is about fulfilling your life.
It is a touchy feely kind of book but not syrupy or sweet. It does not lecture. It is just a good story. I recommend it to knitters and others.

I thought this was good - not great but good, a little like other books I've read such as Angry Housewives Eating Bonbons but without packing quite the same punch. Still a jolly good read though. I am glad I read it, though it took me a while to get through it. It did vaguely make me want to learn to knit!

I am setting this aside to go into the everybook VBB on bookobsessed.com
