it was a huge book-buying day today: i visited the salvos, oars bookshop and angus & robertson, and came home with 26 books!! some were for this year's australian secret santa, and some (i cannot tell a lie) were for me...

i recently read jessica adams' "tom, dick and debbie harry" and found it kinda funny, so i've got high hopes for "single white e-mail". here's a look at the back cover blurb:

"saturday night is a nightmare when you're single. if you stay at home with a $4 video of when harry met sally you always feel slightly stupid. as if you're having yourself on, and having a date with yourself at the same time. which, in fact, you are. if you go out, it's always with women friends, and you look like some desperate roaming female pack. saturday night is couples night and everybody knows it. like special fares to bali, electric blankets with dual controls and home mortgages. saturday night is designed for couples.

this saturday night is going to be different, though. victoria 'total bloody relationship disaster' shepworth is having an internet date. the only problem is, she has no idea who's really at the other end..."

a light, feelgood sort of book that saw me through a couple of disgustingly hot days. not destined to set the world on fire, but that's fine - it's pure entertainment :) i think i'll keep this for one of my secret santa recipients, and hope she enjoys it!

i sent off my secret santa parcels today. i know they're liable to arrive much too early, but with it being a busy time of year for the post office, i'd rather they arrived early than late. i hope my recipient enjoys this book, and has a lovely christmas!!
