This is going to my 2007 Secret Santa. Being that I am one of the places you can find along the Appalachian Trail I could not resist getting this book on their Wishlist.

Thank you, Secret Santa! Bill Bryson is a favorite of mine and my husband's. I got myself his new biography of Shakespeare for Christmas. I can't wait to dig into both and check out Annadale. Peace and blessings for the coming year.

I finished this several weeks ago, my apologies for the delay in journaling, but here it is:

Classic Bryson! Funny, informative and gripping. I suffered and laughed with Bryson as he and his overweight buddy from Iowa tried to walk the Appalachian Trail one summer. He takes us through the process of deciding to do the deed, buying his equipment, begging everyone he sent Christmas cards to to join him, researching the pitfalls (bears - lots of bears,)his first foot-blistering days, the topography, the history, the people he met on the trail and more. It's now on my husband's TBR pile.

Highly recommend this book.

Controlled release to my husband. When he's done, I'll put it up for a ray. Edit - decided to send it to my dad.

Mailed to my dad today. He's a Bryson fan. I'll probably get it back, when I visit in April and THEN put it up for a ray.
