I enjoyed Carlos' memories and experiences. I found the writing itself to be a little stilted, but perhaps that was just me. I am putting this out in my Movers and Shakers bookbox.
Selected from a great collection in Bluestocking's bookbox. Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
I heard Carlos Eire interviewed on NPR, and was so glad to have his book to read this summer. I was completely captivated by his story and his style of writing.
I have been looking forward to visiting Cuba in the not-too-distant future (I hope), and I know that looking at the colonial architecture and vintage cars will be a different experience now that Eire has painted such a vivid picture of the lives of some of the families to whom they belonged before the Revolution. Knowing very little of the Cuba that existed before my lifetime, this memoir has helped me begin to expand my perspective.
Thanks again, Bluestocking88, for generously sharing it.

Mailed November 9 to mrsordonez, who has had this book on her wishlist. Enjoy!
Arrived earlier this week. Thanks so much for sharing with me, so kind! I will re-release upon reading it, but it might be a little bit. :)
