My 650th registration, and i'm working my way through Neil Gaiman's back catalogue (better late than never). I want to read this before seeing the recent film...

An absolute pleasure, from the first word, to the satisfying neat conclusion and the bonus prequel teaser...I would say ‘magical’ if that didn’t sound too trite :) For the fantasy purist, I guess this may look like a pastiche of witches, princes, fabulous lands, creatures, amulets, fantastic journeys and a coming of age, but for all that I loved it!
A synopsis (including spoiler);
Tristran Thorn sets out to bring back a fallen star to secure the hand of his beloved; behind the Wall, into the mystical land of Faerie. But, to cut a complicated story short, he finds out about his past (the son of the Lady of Stormhold, imprisoned by a witch), falls in love with the prickly star Yvaine, and helps to vanquish the wicked Lilim!

Taking along to today's meet-up
Thanks, BGM - this was on my wishlist.
I've loved this, as so often with Neil Gaiman, and I'm quite attached to fairy tales in general. This one was a fairy taile in the best sense, literally, literary, beautiful and not twee.
