Kinsey Millhone continues to solve her way through the alphabet. I didn't make it past A is for Alibi, but I'm sure I can find a Bookcrosser who can make it to Q...

I finally got to Q!! I’m still reading and enjoying this series but it’s taking me a while as I only read 2-3 of these books in a year.

I really enjoyed this one and then find it was based on a real unsolved murder which I found interesting. Sue Grafton was inspired and informed by a real incident but her imagination has expanded and fictionalised the story. All in all a good read and great characters. Perhaps I can find this on someone’s wish list as small blue pebble did 11 years ago. 😉

I am running out of things to say. I have enjoyed all of the books. Is it strange I am now imagining Henry as Howard Keel? I feel that I personally know all her characters. Kinsey is such a real person with her feisty but so likeable nature. Additionally interesting is the fact that this book is written about a true event as explained at the end.

Received today....I’m just about half way through P I’ll try to read it soon!

As I didn’t journal the book in time with its arrival to the next participant I thought I’d edit this post and tell you what I thought about the read. I found it hard to get into at first but this might be more a reflection of my ability to focus and concentrate at the moment. The story had more family interaction where Kinsey learns more about family dynamics and a bit more about her mum’s relationship with grand

Meanwhile she is asked to assist two unwell police men solve a previously unsolved case, she developed an attachment to these guys that I enjoyed reading about. She’s also encouraging another person onto mc ds (a certain lady in a care home had some mc drs smuggled in too in a previous book!).
The characters involved in this mystery are quite interesting and it ends up a little twisty turns. It was interesting to see that Grafton based this story on another unsolved case and details at the back of the book were definitely worth a read too! However, Grafton is still using a brand name of tennis shoe and continues being very precise with the time too. Her style is very changeable about the amount of detail she provides sometimes very little other times lots of tiny details that don’t add much to the story.

Two old policemen, both with health issues, rope in PI Kinsey Millhone to try to solve a cold case. The body of a young woman was found stabbed eighteen years earlier, she was never identified and the killer never found. When they visit the site the body was dumped, Kinsey also finds clues to her own past and more of her family background comes to light. Soon Kinsey and her police buddies are travelling to a small town on the edge of the Mohave Desert in search of their Jane Doe's background. Interestingly the story is based on a real Jane Doe, never identified.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series so far, and this one was no exception. This time Kinsey was working with 2 police detectives, Dolan and Stacey to solve the case. The camaraderie and banter among the three of them was fun. There are the usual twists and turns, and it was interesting that this work of fiction was based on an actual cold case. I will be mailing this to Ollie1976 since penelopewanders and lamelemon have their own copies of the book.
