This book was givin to me by a friend - not one I would purchase on my own. I wanted to read it as I've heard many things about it being good. However, I struggled to get through it and really didn't care for it! Who knows . . . maybe it's just me!

Thanks for sending this my way! I have wanted to read this for a long time and here's my chance. Thank you!

I am one of the chicklit genre lovers that did not like this book. Maybe it's because I saw the movie several years ago and did not care for it. So I was a bit biased reading the book? Maybe? I don't know... I just couldn't get into it. I've read much better chicklit and found myself not wanting to pick up the book to finish it.

However I will send the book on another journey to another bookcrosser through bookrelay. Enjoy!

Okay, so it was dull in parts, but overall made me smile and laugh out loud far more than I usually do when reading causing my husband to often say, "What's so funny?" and then listening to me read aloud the incredibly funny thing that he totally doesn't get. Great book!

This book was sent on to Casperette on Monday, the 30th. While the book was okay, and even funny in parts, I think I could have done without reading it. I also saw the movie, whether or not that has clouded my judgement, I can't say.

Found right in my mailbox this afternoon! I have a nother bookring ahead of it as well as two local bookclub books but I should get a lot of reading done this weekend. (I usually do during the three hour drive to our cabin....) so it shouldn't be too long! : )

Well, it wasn't what I thought it was going to be, but that is good. I didn't realize it was actually going to be written as a diary. (I have no idea why I didn't figure that one out). I have never seen the movie.
I liked the fact that it wasn't the usual chick lit I have read lately (single woman who never has any money, incredibly dopey, no self esteem and usually no job or inbetween jobs).
I liked it enough to probably read the second book if I come across it. The ending was .... well Iwithout giving too much away I will say dissapointing and left you there. Will send off as soon as I have the next bookcrossers address.

YAY! The book arrived yesterday, but we had our first snowstorm of the year, so didn't go out (pic currently on my profile -- I'll post in the journal entry later). Got it today on a gorgeous, blue-sky, sunny day on the way home from voting.

I have one or two other ring books ahead of this, but it will probably be going on the plane with me on Friday to visit my sis.

Thanks for ringing this, princessR! I've been wanting to read it forever. Hopefully it's been long enough since the time I saw the movie. . .and now that it won't affect the reading negatively :)

I really got a kick out of this! I suppose that's kind of shallow of me, but I really did find it enjoyable :) Of course, half the time I also wanted to smack her to her senses, but it's still an entertaining read. I really remember feeling some of the feelings she describes. If you've *ever* been single, even for 5 minutes, you can somehow relate to this book!

I was afraid that since I'd seen the movie first, I wouldn't like the book (my M.O. is usually read first if it's been made into a movie). This didn't adversely affect me at all! In fact, I enjoyed picturing Colin Firth as Mark Darcy :) I also had to laugh when the Hugh Grant/hooker thing came up.

The name Perpetua just cracks me up. Movie or not, it totally sounds like a snooty, nosy, annoying quasi-manager, and I can just imagine how Bridget felt every day at work. Of course, her habit of always being late to work smacked of Generation X, but . .. .

I'm still curious, as I was when watching the movie about the weight. Does the UK use the same "pounds" we have in the US? I do remember watching something about how they use mostly metric, but do share the odd measurement with us. Must research. Or start thread on the forums. . . . about this.

All in all, it was exactly what I expected. No more, no less. And for that, it was enjoyable.

Thanks for sharing! I've already contacted mysteryfan03, so will get this in the mail today.

I read quite a bit of this, but really could NOT get into the obsession with men, eating, smoking and drinking. I have read other "chick lit" and enjoyed it, but this character had no substance for me. Thanks for letting me read it, so many people do like the book!

I found the book in a Steak'n Shake restaurant in Collinsville, Illinois. It was in the restroom! I plan to read it and then leave it somewhere when I'm on a trip.

CAUGHT IN COLLINSVILLE ILLINOIS USA

Just a note. I went to Illinois for 2 days and released several books there to find new homes. This one was journaled before I even got back home! I left it at the Steak & Shake restroom in Collinsville!
