My International Secret Santa for echesketch. Merry Christmas!
I received this last week from my 2007 Secret Santa with the intention of not opening the package until Christmas Day. After joining a spiral for Peter Mayle's Provence books and realizing that I had a number of his books on my Wish List, I needed to peek in the package to see if this was a Peter Mayle book that was part of the spiral. Hindsight tells me now that I probably could've waited to open the package until it was atleast my turn to begin receiving the spiral books.
Nonetheless, it was a great surprise ScottishHoosier and I thank you so much. This writer's books are so much fun to read and I know I'll love reading every bit of this book.

All done! Another lite, easy read from Peter Mayle.
I sensed that there could have been more story to this one perhaps in the form of a sequel or simply more in this book. No matter though as it was easy to follow, had nice lite humor, and not overwhelming with too many characters. I was reading this in piecemeal and found it extremely easy to pick up where I left off without having to refresh my memory.
I didn't see the movie and to be honest, I didn't even notice in the advertising that it was based on a Mayle novel. I'd love to rent it now though to not only see how well Russell Crowe fit into the role, but to also see how deep the screenwriters delved into each of Peter Mayle's colorful characters.
