I've really LOVED this novel. I expected an Agatha Christie-like, with a twisted plot and little more, but no way.

This book is brilliantly written, with sentences full of sympathy, character-description and common sense. The story in itself was treated in a sensible and sensitive way. The characters are as real-life as it goes, or at least that's what it seemed to me. I really got hooked on this novel, and I really liked Harry Bosch's attitude towards his job and his life.

I must admit I had never heard of the author or the book before, but it really made me want for more. I understand that there is a complete series of Harry Bosch novels out there, so I'll try to watch out for them. However, I didn't need any previous knowledge to follow this installment.

PLOT: Bosh has been assigned to LA Cold-Case unit. His first work, teaming with Kiz Rider, will be Rebecca Verloren's case, a female teenager who had been killed some twenty years before in a wood near her home. The main clue is a chunk of skin attached to the gun, and the fact that the authopsy revealed that she had recently gotten an abbortion, father unknown. They get in touch with the broken-up family of the late Rebecca and her gang of three close friends. There seems to be a racial angle to the case, but everybody seems to be too eager to hush it down, especially Arturo Garcia, one of the cops who made the investigation time back ago.

If all this is not enough, Bosh has much more trouble coming in: his enemy is waiting for him to f*** it up big time, so that Bosch could be expelled from the police force once more and for ever and ever.

I'll offer this book as a RABCK, or I'll send it to somebody. I'll wait until I have a little more free time, and I'll decide then what to do with it.
