Book is a little beat up but all the pages seem to be here. This was left un-registered at my OBCZ in Webster's on Aaron. It will go out there eventually.

I haven't read any other Michael Crichton but I loved this one.

The delight of this book lies in the differences between it and the movie, at least for me.

Everyone has those five or six movies that defined their early adolescence, the lens through which they may indeed see the entire world. I'm not ashamed to say that I have a list of movies that probably defined my understanding of theme, plot, against which I measure all over movie experiences. They include, but are not limited to, Batman Forever, Independence Day, and Jurassic Park.

As the other two are just movies (albeit movies with long comic book and science fiction ancestry), I've never had the opportunity to read the source material, and I was startled at the fact that the source material for Jurassic Park was so drastically different. It was grittier, more scientific, more graphic, and had tons of scenes and material that simply did not make it to the movie. Characters and plots were cut, blended together, and added; there was even one scene (the waterfall scene) that was in this book that was somehow incorporated into the Lost World movie. A lot of characters are evil and/or flawed in a way that the movie simply omits. And more people die than in the movie, so I was startled when Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum's character) bled out. How do they make up for that, seeing as he starred in the second movie? I don't know, but when I find out, I will be sure to tell somebody.

I'm hooked now; I've requested the other book through the library.
