This book was interesting and a rather quick read. I found it to be slightly cynical, and the ending predictable. However, I am a hopeless romantic and found that the book was overall, a great read.
One of the critics of the book was quoted in saying, the the book was "Funny, sad, and full of perfect little truths. It's one of those rare books that you read and think, I know that woman. She's me." (Laura Zigman). When I first finished the book, I kept trying to convince myself that I wasn't anything like the main character, but after rereading the book and thinking over that statement I couldn't agree more.
Jill Davis has a way of bringing to light the good and bad within her characters that causes you to look at your own life; as much as you hate to admit it, the faults that her characters possess are the same ones you see when you look in the mirror.
