Absolutely fantastic. I opened this book at 8.30am while I was still curled up under my warm doona and I was still there 4 hours later..book finished. I was enthralled from the start. I don't want to say anything here about the actual story line suffice to say it gets you hooked very quickly.

I was the same as sarahbear, I started reading and a few hours later had finished, it was compelling! What a dreadful experience for a family to go through. I loved the honesty of the writer, her questioning and doubting her parenting skills as we often do was heart wrenching.
thanks for sharing sarahbear!

Received from L1nda today, thanks! Sounds like a great book, can't wait to start reading it.
Wow! This book well and truly sucked me in. I started reading it about 11pm last night, fully intending to only read about 50 pages before bed, but I couldn't put it down! What a horrifying story, I can't even begin to imagine how the mother must have been feeling, questioning her sanity; let alone poor Sarah's ordeal. Very easy to read novel, an engrossing story.
Thanks for this bookring sarahbear!
ADDIT 14/08/08: Mailing off to fairy-whispers tomorrow.

I picked this book up fully intending to read a chapter before bed. Nine hours and six glasses of coke later, I was finished. The story this book tells is sad and tragic, and the writing hooks you from the beginning. Betrayed details the doubts and uncertainties most parents feel at some point, especially when dealing with what appears to be a problem child, and highlights the lack of help available to such families. The fact that Sarah and her family had to endure such horrible events for so long is an inditement of our society, where parent's concerns are dismissed as nonsense, and illnesses and psychosis are diagnosed for convenience. Betrayed is a difficult book for parents to read, but I highly recommend it.

What a horrifying story - how one disturbed person can ruin so many lives. Like the others who have read this, once I started reading I couldn't put it down. Thanks for sharing this book with us.

Passed to amberC at work today. She will bring it to our meetup for next reader.
Received from scrapaholic at work yesterday. I will read it immediately so I can pass it along at the meet-up on Sunday.
Thanks for letting me slip into the list.
Thanks for letting me slip into the list.
It is hard to imagine how a family would cope in this situation.
Thanks for letting me read it. I will be taking it to the meet-up for ScarletRubies tomorrow.

Not going to read the JEs before I start the book!
I picked this up at Sunday's meet up, having joined the ring on it's last 'leg' (can a ring have a leg?). I think it's going home to Tassie when I am done (got that wrong - it's still chuffing around); have a couple of other books on the go but will make this one a priority. Thanks!

Egads! I found this book in a bag this weekend... I had thought I had passed it on already!
I am so sorry to have slowed the ring down. The book was read by myself and three friends locally, and I will get in touch with Puppymummy for an address.
Like other readers, I found it a compelling story; completely un-put-downable. There were times I felt frustrated with the way the mum and co-author wrote, but the tale itself is just heartbreaking. Early in the book, I thought the "betrayer" was someone else, but once I realised who it was, I found myself so angry and wanting to know how the story concluded. Sadly, that took about two thirds of the book! I thought it was a lot longer than necessary, but can't begin to imagine how mother and daughter felt/feel. I hope writing the book was cathartic.
My local friends also enjoyed the book, and were all done in only a day or two. Like I said, the book is longer than it needed to be - in fact, reminds me a little of Schappelle Corby's "My Story".
Thanks very much for the loan; hope to have Puppymummy's address and get this book off on Tuesday.

This actually arrived a little while ago, unfortunately I was in the middle of completing five major assignments and so internet time was (what? internet time? not for research?????)
Fortunately next Thursday I start holidays, so will be reintroducing myself to the concept of reading for pleasure :)
