I have loved all of Bill Bryson's books, and this was no exception. He captures the feeling of being a traveler in addition to the beauty of the places he writes about, and keeps me laughing along the way. Sending this to another bookcrossing Bryson fan.
I just finished this book a few days ago. I read it because I needed something light. Bill Bryson is always fun, but not stupid, and I always learn a lot from his books. This was no exception. It's a very entertaining read, though it is peppered with some pretty depressing environmental info.
The first Bryson book I read was Neither Here Nor There, so I was glad to see his friend Katz come back into the picture, and to see them develop an understanding and friendship despite being very different people.
I will let my husband read this book and then probably do a RABCK or trade with it ...
Thanks again Salemhouse for sending me this book! I enjoyed it very much.

I just got back from vacation and this was in my mailbox. I'm really looking forward to reading it. I have been wanting to read this book for a long time. Thank you so much for the RABCK, moogytee!
I really enjoyed reading this book. The author went back and forth between telling about his actual experiences on the trail, and explaining historical & environmental information. I learned from the informational sections of the book, but, as moogytee said, the environmental stuff was depressing at times. I liked the sections about his hiking experiences the best. Some parts of it were laugh-out-loud funny.
I enjoy hiking, but I can't imagine doing it for so long. I've actually hiked at Amicalola Falls and at Neels Gap (two of the Georgia places mentioned in the book), so it was fun to read about those places in particular. Reading this book makes me want to make time to go hiking more than I currently do.
Thank you for sending this book, moogytee! I will pass it along to someone else.

Moogytee offered this book to me because it was on my wishlist, so I passed it on in the same way. Mailed yesterday. Enjoy the book!
Thanks to Keeprdg for making a wish come true from my wish list (my first one:-)
