2 journalers for this copy...
This is another screwball comedy from Hiaasen involving plastic surgeons, cops, a tree trimmer and all sorts of other weirdos. A bit trashy, but fun.
Hiaasen has a really strange mind, and can create really oddball characters.
I liked how he poked fun at the plastic surgery industry.

Found it at the Manx. A friend had told me about bookcrossing.com and thought it might be the best idea he had ever heard of. I didn't think much of it at the time he told me about it (about three months ago), but when I left the Manx in a state of semi-sobriety on February 28, 2003, little did I ever think I would run into a book sitting there on the rack that was registered here.
I guess I owe my dad for even looking at it -- he gave me a copy of Hiassen's "Stormy Weather" a few months back and, after struggling through the first couple of chapters, I found I actually liked it. So I picked it up, saw the tag and said: "Cool, I'll have to read this and register it. Never thought I'd try, but here goes...."
Well, I'm almost done and I like this one too. Pretty caustic view of South Florida and the people who live there. It is worth a read. I'll finish it tonight, and either give it to my dad to read or release it back into the wild. Either way, it'll get around -- my dad always gives his books to others to read, so I think he'll do the same here.
Can't believe someone from Saskatchewan left a book in Ottawa and I picked it up and took it to Edmonton. Go figure.
