Rapture of Canaan
1 journaler for this copy...
This is the third used copy I've bought of this book. I really, really enjoyed it. I originally found it in a bookbox and am so glad I picked it out.
My family has some deep Appalachian roots, and my stepmother and her family fall into the Pentacostal speaking-in-tongues group. So that always interests me, in a freaky sort of way. :)
It was very easy for me to conjure up pictures of the characters in this book and their homes and tobacco fields. I wanted to shake my head many times at the senseless guilt that James and Ninah felt over things. It's a different world, but one that actually exists.
The barbed wire and grave punishments astounded me. Wow. And Canaan. Very unique twist there. (I don't want to give anything away.)
If you find this book, read it! And then pass it around. ENJOY!
