I had this around from someone else and just wanted to move it along. It's a good enough story about marriage and faith, not really my kind of book at this point. But it's nice enough for what it is!

I was excited to read this book at first since the author's previous work, The Secret Life of Bees is SO GOOD. This book had promise. And then...

Spoiler alert... don't read if you haven't read....

Okay, the sex with the monk was inevitable, but the way the first encounter happened was rather abrupt.

And then the husband shows up? Okay, I was gagged.

Then it drags on. Homegirl ends things with husband, falls in love with the monk, monk rejects her, she returns home to have sex with her husband, and then what? Loneliness.

I don't feel bad for Jessie. I thought the monk would stay.

I wish this book was as good as the last. Shame.
