Three girls from very different backgrounds are posted to a Dorset farm to workthe land along with the farmer, his wife and his son. As they learn to milk cows, help with lambing, care for fruit trees and plough the fields they form lasting relationships with those they meet, and find themselves having to make very difficult decisions.

Angela huth's writing style is very calm and unsensational, very much in keeping with the characters in this book. The three girls are so well written, they could easily have been portrayed as stereotypes, but came across as totally beleivable.
