It's been a slow read for this starting series. Okay, so if you like school-boy romance then you'll enjoy this one too.

Received this today! Yaoi goodness- what could be a better end to a long week? Thanks so much!
Several people recommended I read this book, so it's great to have it in my hands in order to give it a shot.

This one has been on Mount To Be Read for more than a year. I started reading it during my day after Thanksgiving graphic novel read-a-thon and finished it up for Do Nothing But Read Day.
I found it confusing and slow-going at first. The description on the back cover didn't really seem to fit exactly what I was reading. I didn't get that overwhelming "I'll protect you" vibe from Ryuhei. And the beginning seemed a little hard to follow, what with all the characters and their backgrounds/crushes. When it got to book 2 onward, I enjoyed the story much more. I liked the interactions between Ohno and Imaizumi quite a lot, and the drama/struggle around student council was fun to read. I loved Noze (Mmm. There's something about a bishie in glasses, isn't there? Especially one with an unrequited crush--or two) But Imaizumi was easily my favorite character. By the time I got to the end of the manga, I really wanted to read more!
There's a short story with totally unrelated characters at the end, which was sort of not what I wanted. It was a good story, don't get me wrong (and dead sexy in places), and typical in these mangas. But I desperately wanted to know what would happen to the characters in Sunflower and I didn't want to change in mid-stream like that so suddenly.
I definitely want to track down volume 2 now!

Ooh, a yaoi book I'd never heard of! [I see that this one's on Jare's wishlist, so I'll read it right away and put it back in the box.]
Update: Likable characters and some tantalizing romances (the actual ones and the wished-for and/or one-sided ones), but I did have some trouble figuring out who was who half the time. [A not uncommon problem for me with manga, even when I pay attention to hairstyles and other cues.] I think I got it worked out by the end of the book, though!
One of my favorite bits was the "Azumi and her Fangirl Moments" page, with several young girls commenting on the characters from the previous segment: "We have a classic, black haired, mischievous Uke!" "What a waste! I thought we had an age difference and a shorter, younger Seme on our hands!"

Taking from the LGBT bookbox! I've been wanting to read this one, and was thrilled to see it still in there!

I found this one just "OK". Not outstanding, not a whole lot of fun, but also not necessarily horrible. I think my problem is that I just don't really enjoy Yaoi as much as I used to, and find them a bit too formulaic (like they are following Harlequin's business model). I will find this book a new home soon enough!

Left outside near the entrance. Enjoy!
