I loved 'The Kite Runner' so was really pleased to find a second book by the same author.
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Ooh, very pleased to receive this as I have heard lots of good reviews and I really enjoyed The Kite Runner.
Sorry for the delay, but I could not send this on without finishing it. A mesmerising story of love, loss and friendship which I found so sad in places. Yet the strength of friendship between Mariam and Laila in such difficult times really shone through. Beautifully written.
Sending on to Barefootmum.

Safely arrived in the post this morning. Looks wonderful and really looking forward to reading this one as have quite recently read The Kite Runner in my other book group. I'll be taking it with me later this week when we go youth hostelling on the Isle of Wight so should get lots of reading time in....
What an amazing book! In the end I read it in two days and had to take another one on holiday with me. The only reason it's not got ten out of ten is that no book can be perfect so i can't give it as a matter of principle. I enjoyed this more than the Kite Runner as it was from a female perspective. Terribly moving in many ways. Highly recommended.
I will now send this on to Anfield....

This arrived today. I will confess I got very excited by the Cath Kidston tape around the package, but since I have not ordered anything from Cath Kidston it was no suprise to find a book inside. Loved Kite Runner, hope this is as good.

I took possession of this on Wednesday evening but I've only just remembered to journal it.

Definitely the best book I have read this year, but as it is only 3rd Jan it is also the only book I've read this year. However, it will take an amazing book to knock it off its perch.
What an emotional roller-coaster. I just kept thinking about how my life had progressed during the same years and being extremely thankful that I was born in Britain rather than Afganistan. It was beautifully written, the suffering of the two women and the bond of friendship between them, despite and because of their treatment by Rashid was completely believable. It is a book I shall be thinking about for a long time.
I will pass on to Ragtimebabe shortly.

I realised I did not journal this ...
Loved it but it was so so sad. I just wanted one tiny good thing to happen to them but it rarely did.
We in the west really misunderstand Afghanistan :-(
