In the big old house overlooking the sea, 5 small children listened as their mother read them a story. Their idyllic lives were disrupted by war and by tragedy. Many years on, memories of their past, and their secrets, revisit them..
This book is written in an 'old-fashioned' style, in what the author imagnes is an upper middle class voice. Vast chunks devoted to the dogs which are irrelevant and irritating.
I struggled to finish it!
