The sparks fly between Cara Kim, "the oddest attraction in all of Vegas—the virgin stripper," and Seamus Fox, a 371-year-old uptight Irish vampire who hasn't had sex in 200 years, in McCarthy's droll follow-up to High Stakes. Seamus, who's the campaign manager for Ethan Carrick, the president of Vampire Nation, must turn Cara into a vampire in order to save her life after she becomes collateral damage in a nasty pre-election skirmish connected to Roberto Donatelli, who's running against Carrick. Donatelli is so eager to unseat conservative Carrick, he'll stop at nothing, even if it means driving a stake into someone or drugging an associate. Though Cara initially finds Seamus controlling and his blood too arousing, she soon finds herself and her five pets, including a devilish Chihuahua, doing more than just a shadow dance in this cute paranormal treat.

Oh! It is a volume 2?

Maybe I will find volume 1 in London - if I haven't read this book before ;-) as it is one of the I-really-really-want-to-read-you-all-NOW! - Rings that are somehow all popping into my Packstation this week (yes, have a look at my profile, it is true: I am a ring-in-bundles-Bookcrosser ;-))

Journal Entry 3 by Schneefee from Hagen, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Friday, December 28, 2007
needed some time to get into the story and warm up with either Cara and Seamus, but once I got into it, I really was into it and hardly did anything but reading (thanks to Christmas holidays, besides...).
Furthermore I really like the cover and how it feels :-)

Journal Entry 4 by Annieselan from Fulda, Hessen Germany on Friday, January 11, 2008
Der Ring ist heute bei mir angekommen. Jetzt freue ich mich aufs Lesen. Danke fürs Schicken, Schneefee!

Journal Entry 5 by Annieselan from Fulda, Hessen Germany on Sunday, January 13, 2008
I´ve really enjoyed reading this book. I didn`t know that there was something like Vampire Chicklit and it was amazingly good! I like Vampire-stories and sometimes Chicklit, so it`s great to have both together.
At the beginning, I had the same problems like Schneefee, but after a while, the story was fun to read.
The main problem I had with the book was Cara, the super-perfect-wonderful-sexy-pretty-brainy-caring-Miss Wonderful. It was easier to believe in Seamus, Ethan and the vampire nation than in this wondergirl. ;-) I was beginning to hope, she had one flaw - forgetting her grandmother in the nursing-home - but on page 290 she remembered her and visited the poor granny. Damn, she`s just perfect! *just joking*
Thank you for letting me join this very interesting bookring. I´ve asked for Tiamat-Mucs address, so the book will soon travel further.

gut angekommen

Journal Entry 8 by Tiamat-muc from München, Bayern Germany on Thursday, March 20, 2008
Started reading on Mondays and had a first laugh at p.63: Good God, Cara, you can't let your vibrator lie open on your bed. Everyone knows that a horde of your friends can assault your home anytime just because they want Küßchen *fg*. Seamus, I think, is such a baby, I really liked Ethan more. And I LOVE the Frenchman - with him, a girl could get dreamy. Of course I love Caras pets too (Cara herself not by all means, she's so passive). It's so realistic how they take over the bed (c:
By the way: Cara was a virgin when she became a vampire - doesn't a vampire heal when body-damaged? *gg*
In the end I must admit that I liked High Stakes much better.

Vampires flying again

Journal Entry 10 by Sao-Diego12548 from Köpenick, Berlin Germany on Tuesday, March 25, 2008
The rings have arrived in Berlin, I have one other on my TBR, but then I'm already looking forward to these :)

Journal Entry 11 by Sao-Diego12548 from Köpenick, Berlin Germany on Monday, March 31, 2008
Read it fast and liked it. All else that I could say, had been said before: I also had my problems with Miss Perfect-Naive Cara. And I'm really really hoping for news on Corbin and Brittany. Tiamat-Muc ist right: This guy is seriously sexy! ;D

I already asked for the next adress, the books should be on their way, soon.

Journal Entry 12 by Sao-Diego12548 from Köpenick, Berlin Germany on Thursday, May 1, 2008
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!!
I just found the vampires - packed and all ready to go in a bag in the hal. I thought for sure, they had been on their way for weeks...
I'm so terribly sorry, I really don't know, how this could happen, I'm utterly confused about this...
Today - or if they don't fit in the box, tomorrow - they will defnitely be on their way!

Journal Entry 13 by Haltestelle from Groß-Umstadt, Hessen Germany on Tuesday, May 27, 2008
This book arrived too :-) and that´s the I´m not going to read, because the first one wasn´t after my fancy.

Journal Entry 14 by wingdelfinnettiwing from Netphen, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Wednesday, June 11, 2008
The books arrived save and sound yesterday. Thank you for the rings and sending the books. I´m afraid I will not be able to read them right away (though I´m tempted, but not tempted enough to carry them to mountaintops - I on hollyday, hiking next week). But I will read them soon (vampires never linger on Mount TBR).

Edit 21.08.2008:
I was quit astonished, that the second part is told out of a different perspective - that of Seamus, Ethans elections campain-manager. I found myseld sometimes nearly disliking the heroin of the first part. Seamus is a total workaholic. No free time and social live... The second part takes up the story days after it was left of in the first part. Seamus is loking for Brittany ´s Aunt in a strip-club to see if he can find out something about her father.
After my initial dislike of the change of perspective I liked this book a much as the first part. High time to find out a bit more about the frencemen in the next part though! I´m quite interested to find out what is going to happen next!

soooooooo, nu hab ich's doch mal geschafft, dass sich buch und computer in einem raum aufhalten.

Journal Entry 17 by ParadizeApple on Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Sorry, I kept these tree for ever, I didn't realize they were rays. I know, in my profile I'm telling the whole world I'd love to read everything vampire, even as trashy as could be, but this series is too much, even for me. It's a simple, shallow and chauvinistic peace of work and I just couldn't get to the end of even one of it and I tried hard.
Awe, this feels like some nice times are really over now....
Just found out, it were four of those.
So, this book may need another reader too.

Daughter #2 read this after reading High Stakes. She enjoyed it better, getting to know the characters and realizing that there are more stories to come. She thought it was a book for teenagers, but after reading, concluded it was more for young adults. ;-)
