I bought this book for the princely sum for 2 pounds whilst tootling around the UK in 2000 (later on in the trip I bought 'North and South', also for two pounds). To be honest, I don't remember a whole heap of the book, although I know I bought it because I enjoyed the BBC's (presumably) adaptation that had screened in Australia soon before my trip.
I'd read it again, but frankly it's not on the 1001 Books to Read Before You Die list and two other of Gaskel's books that I haven't read are. Not enough time...
Anyway, hopefully it will find a good home at the Perth BC Meetup tomorrow! :-)
