Ian McEwan is a favorite author of mine and I'm looking forward to reading this new novel of his.

Having just finished this one, I still haven't read a novel (or novella, in this case) by McEwan that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. This is the story of the first night of the honeymoon of an English couple in a more conservative and chaste era. The tension surrounding the consummation of the marriage is almost unbearable.
