I think this story tells more about Grogan family than Marley himself and that is why the book wasn’t exactly what I expected.

Marley was not well-behaved dog, but why. If you raise a puppy without rules, you get an unruly dog and the dog gets the blame. Marley was yet loyal and loved his family and that is why I liked him and therefore I liked the book too.
