Gratefully received, to be released at the convention in October. Thanks from the convention committee.
Picked up at the Melbourne 2007 BookCrossing Convention - it's about an artist, which I like, and it has the most fulsome reviews I've ever seen on the back. According to The Australian,
"Reading Anson Cameron's latest novel is like standing on the pick-up of a truck as it plunges at breakneck speed down a bush road. The view is exhilarating, the driver's navigational skills remarkable, but the occasional flying rock almost knocks the passenger off."
I wait with bated breath for the moment when I too will be knocked off.

As always, oversold by the blurb. But I appreciated this thoughtful, truculent accoutn of a man caught between the Aboriginality he never knew, and the white society that always makes him Other. Telling about race, love, social divisions and fought-over land in Australia.
His artistic sign painting leads him to design a new australian flag, but does his design make the finals simply for tokenistic reasons? I liked Hunter's battling dad, and the denouement - but couldn't we at least find out who won and what happened to the girlfriend? I don't like all these ends left hanging!
