This was Frazier's first book, and it is masterful. Frazier is a gifted storyteller, and the tale he tells will haunt the reader for a long time.
This novel is the account of a Civil War soldier's long trip back home to rejoin his sweetheart, and of how their lives have been transformed by the war.
I was delighted to find this book in an armload that a friend gave me for purposes of BC release.

I released the book on a table that held some cards for a contest entry, just inside the door.
When I left the restaurant I noticed the book behind the counter, with a note that said, "Left behind on purpose".
I moved the book to an end table, just below the OVERSIZED armchair.
I suspect restaurant management may have moved the book back to Lost-and-Found after I walked out the front door!
