Had only read On Beauty (which I loved) before this, so seem to be working through Zadie Smith backwards! Less immediately totally bloody brilliant than O B but still very funny and unexpected and fresh, and I found it moving in an unexpectedly profound way at the end. The main character Alex Li grows on you throughout, having seemed a bit blank at the beginning. A great read.
